The Scent of the Piece

SELF PORTRAIT DESCRIPTION

In my "Self Portrait" project, I envisioned an interactive, abstract experience that invites the observer into a journey of truly getting to know me beyond my physical appearance. This personal work of art, presented in a handmade book form, is an assemblage of various materials including Polaroid film, recycled teabags, thread, glass beads, and more, each chosen for their personal significance. I wanted to convey authenticity, hence the book features a raw self-portrait on a Polaroid and pages that require the viewer's engagement to reveal more. It’s a dynamic piece that reflects my growth, encouraging others to interact first and reserve judgment, mirroring the layered complexities of identity and self-perception.

⑥ MEE NA MEE DA

Space and Materiality - Quilt Patch Assignment- March 2023
Embroidery threads, glass beads, plastic beads, cotton, wool, felt

Testing the texture and experimenting with different mediums.
also an experiment...

This quilt patch is a depiction of the toxic community I’ve seen and experienced. This is a fish with face and a head, which in Thai idiom ‘Mee Na Mee Da’ means someone that is ‘presentable’ or respectable often related to their status and power. This fish is concealed by a glorious wall, the identity of the fish remained unknown. The wall also represents the restrictions the fish has, despite having everything.

My concept and theme for Bridge 4/Project 4 in Seminar and Studio is Japanese ceramic art. More specifically the impact of the Mingei movement on the aesthetic and purpose of Japanese tea ceremonies. As for my studio project’s final, I intend to create an interactive and contemporary booklet, which was inspired by traditional flip books.

Before settling on the final design, I’ve created a mind map of inspirations and concepts for my final piece. The mind map was helpful in terms of creating a cohesive concept along with my seminar essay, and helps me visualize my idea

⑮ THIS OR THAT

Information Visualization - April 2024

The goal of this project is to compare two entities (like two products or services) that are alive somewhere in the world. Unearth all the information you can find, the hard cold facts, and available datasets about these two entities. Present this information in a clear and compelling data visualization.

Making this project, I got to hone my skills in constructing information/data visualization as well as a comprehensive style guide. I used Adobe Illustrator and InDesign to construct this project and utilized Tableau for my data visualizations.
